Homemade Stainless Steel Appliance Cleaner

With a family of 5, I can't tell you how many times I have to clean my stainless steel refrigerator per week. It sure makes me rethink about why I purchased stainless steel. However, the appliances really are beautiful when they shine. But I have found that the cleaners on the market always leave a filmy residue on my refrigerator, so I spent the morning coming up with a DIY stainless steel cleaner. If you have stubborn dark spots use my method for getting dark spots off of stainless steel first before using the cleaner below.

I mixed together
1 part ammonia (or vinegar)
1 part water
1 part alcohol (to help with evaporation)
The ammonia is great for cleaning stainless steel but, if you do not like using ammonia you most certainly can substitute vinegar. I just happen to like the way the ammonia cleans my stainless steel. The alcohol works great for getting the cleaner evaporated quickly so it won't leave spots.

One thing you need to have is lots of cloths or paper towels ready for applying the stainless steel cleaner and wiping off excess if needed. It really helps to wipe a lot to get the best shine so that it won't leave streaks.

I have to tell you that my refrigerator hasn't looked this good since the day I bought it :)
